DMPTool

DMPTool

NIH requires all applicants planning to generate scientific data to prepare a data management and safety plan (DMSP) that describes what will be done with the data during and after completion of the research project and how it will be shared.

Most grant proposals, regardless of funding agency, include DMSPs. Pitt has also implemented an interim policy requiring all researchers to develop DMSPs to address new regulations and research data storage issues.

To assist researchers, the University of Pittsburgh has partnered with the DMPTool. The DMPTool offers Pitt-specific templates to help researchers put together a comprehensive plan tailored to the specific requirements of the institution and funding agencies such as NIH, NSF, ARHQ, and DOD.
