Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) is a secure, web-based platform, developed by Vanderbilt University, for building and managing online databases and surveys.  

The University of Pittsburgh offers REDCap for use with any IRB-approved research project as both a standard system and a CFR 21 Part 11 validated system for studies done under FDA oversight.

Qualtrics is an online survey system that is web-based. It allows for the creation of surveys, collection and secure storage of data and analysis of responses. It is available to Pitt students, faculty and staff at all campuses at no cost and has been vetted and authorized by the Office of University Counsel and Pitt’s Information Security Officer.
