Community Engagement and Community Advisory Boards
CTSI’s Community PARTners Core links researchers and the community by partnering with community members and organizations, with a focus on research reciprocity and recruitment. Core programming includes several tools to help researchers increase community engagement, including facilitation of Community Engagement Studios and Community Partnered Research Ethics Training.
The Community Research Advisory Board (CRAB) was established by the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health with the mission of helping researchers understand how to engage community members in research and foster collaboration among those populations and researchers interested in addressing health challenges. They meet monthly with researchers for consultation on participant engagement and recruitment.
The Youth Research Advisory Board (YRAB), sponsored by UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, brings together a panel of teens and young adults to offer a youth perspective on adolescent research. Members provide feedback on how researchers can effectively engage and communicate with younger participants.
